BCR History - Swift and Strong

The British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught's Own) is a Primary Reserve armoured reconnaissance (recce) regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces; the regiment is subordinate to 39 Canadian Brigade Group of 3rd Canadian Division. Established in 1883, it is the oldest military unit in Vancouver, British Columbia. It parades at the Beatty Street Drill Hall at the corner of Dunsmuir and Beatty in Downtown Vancouver. The regiment has been variously designated as garrison artillery, rifles, infantry, and armoured, but has been reconnaissance since 1965. It has received 41 battle honours in its history, and has been a unit of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps since 1942.

The driving force behind "Swift & Strong" was The British Columbia Regiment (DCO) Museum Society who, over several years of painstaken reasearch and work, were in a position to finally print this definitive history. While the content had for a large part been completed, there remained some internal graphics to create, final printing preparations, and the cover. Book covers are, quite naturally, the creators of the all-important "first impression". A well designed cover serves to attract the potential reader to open the book to investiagte further the contents. In a way it is a taste of things to come. The opposite also holds true, as a boring or unattractive cover may well either not attract attention or worse, steer the reader or potential buyer away.
